Takahiro, a maiko in her second year of service in the Gion Kobu district of Kyoto, enjoying the cherry blossoms along the Shirakawa stream from beneath her oiled paper umbrella.
It's been raining all day. Not like an Irish style 'soft' rain, a full on, harcore, plum rain. I'm not complaining, in fact, I quite like it. I'm just trying to keep everyone updated (and use it as an excuse to post this image). (^-^)

Hi Melissa,
Great blog and fantastic photos!
My girlfriend and I have been accepted as ALTs in Ogaki, which I gather isn't too far away from where you are now. We're looking for a bit of information about the region, so if it's OK with you, we'd really like to pick your brain before we leave.
If this sounds like something you wouldn't mind doing, it would be great if you could shoot me an email at amross [AT] dal [dot] ca.
Thanks a lot!
