The Girls of Gion

A crew of Geiko and Maiko gathered outside the famous noren of the Ichirikiya to cheer the men on as they carried portable shrines down the Hanamikoji (Gion Matsuri).

This photo should have more comments. You have captured a very beautiful moment here that seems to show the people beneath the heavy makeup. I love the range of expressions and how there is a story inside of the photo. This is probably my favorite shot of yours that I have seen. Excellent work.

I don't know why it won't let me enter my details, but the anonymous comment was from me. Anyhow, send me an email at nickcoutts@gmail.com when you're going to be in Kyoto again and I'll set aside a day to go out and take photos with you.
