The maiko Konomi performing "Autumn color leaves at the Jojakkoji Temple in Sagano with another geiko ( possibly Mao).
Jokakkoji Temple was originally built as a retirement home for the priest Nisshin on mount Ogura. The Ogura Hyakunin Isshu (collection of a hundred waka poems) was compiled by Fujiwara no Teika while living in Shiguretei, believed to have been located where Jokakkoji stands today.

Thanks a bunch Melissa! I was happy with my shots of Miyako Odori until I saw yours! They really capture the spectacle beautifully. I'm interested to see that they change roles - one of the dancers in your photos was playing a drum on the day I went - I took lots of photos of her because she looked so perfect! Anyway, I'm back in Australia now (sniff)... thanks for bringing it back for me.
Absolutely gorgeus.
I love your pictures of geisha and maiko <3 they just make me more obsessed with them ^^
